According to WBAC and Motorway, the value of our 2020 Jimny has fallen from £26,000 in June to around £21,500 now.

Not an issue for us, as "Kevin" our yellow SZ5 is not for sale.

But good news for anyone who wants to buy one. Although l haven't actually found any for sale at this lower price.

SZ5s are still holding well being the rarer car than the LCV & 4 seater although they will drop over time. I've heard on some used lcvs selling for nearer 17k now. So many dealers are getting lcvs now with no buyers for them so its easy to get one for list price. Still loads of used lcvs trying for stupid money on autotrader.

The saloon version is always going to be more popular because it has a wider market, despite the fact that many owners leave the rear seats down all the time.

In addition the Commercial version will drop in price because you can't claim the VAT back when buying it used from a private buyer, where you could effectively get 20% off a new one.

I doubt many LCVs are bought by VAT-registered buyers - it's just a fleet emissions loophole that allows some kind of Jimny to be sold.  Many small traders whose business is mostly labour and who might want a 4x4 (hedgelayers, tree surgeons, gardeners) won't be VAT registered anyway, and will be careful never to exceed the threshold.  Registration means they have to increase their prices by 20%, becoming far less competitive, but there are very few input costs they can claim against.  VAT is a really horrible tax.

A dealer near me has the LCV in at the old list price, they pre-registered them before the £600 increase. They are on Autotrader alongside secondhand ones which are around £25k.

Which would you get, a brand new one from a main dealer for the old list price or one from a bloke down the pub with 1.000 miles on it and about a year old?

I still can’t bring myself to buy a LCV, I will either wait for a SZ5 to drop in price or hope Suzuki bring out a hybrid version.

Seems our Jimny value has tanked in the last few months!

WBAC is now claiming our 2020 SZ5 is worth £20,000
A further drop of around £1500 in the last two weeks.

l can't find any SZ5 Jimnys anywhere near £20,000 private or dealer, the cheapest l found was a 48,000 miles 2020 SZ5 at £24,000

l guess if WBAC are offering £20k then they will be looking at a retail price of maybe £24k?

Goodness knows what they were thinking when they offered £26,500 earlier this year. Did anyone actually ever buy one for £30,000?

Suzuki still think people will, their website lists a few at around the £30,000 mark.
