2006 jimny exhaust? was created by Danparry
Hey
I'm looking at an exhaust or maybe just change the backbox on my jimny,
Just wondering is it worth getting an exhaust on the 1.3 vvt model?
Any more torque gained?? For beach driving.
Just seeing if it's worth doing
Thanks

Some louder exhausts are available but there is no performance benefit.

Yokohama Geolanders, Sony head unit, NAUTILUS Air Horn, DRL conversion, Rear cargo space, Elvis Bobblehead, transfer Guard, Indian hanging Elephant, Koni Heavy track dampers, Custom SS exhaust, Voodoo Doll, Adventure Rack with LED ight bar, vintage ERIBA caravan usually attached (yes it's slow)

I'll second above, exhausts and filters do nothing* to improve the performance. I did think a stainless steel exhaust may be more suitable for beach driving (salt), but then the body is just as likely to rot away at the same speed, so probably not worth the extra cost.
* nothing = not noticeable by any significant amount, may even make things worse. But it will SOUND faster , I know as I have them all fitted.

The Jimny has a "log" manifold which is not particularly efficient, and that will be the pinch point in the exhaust. Anything bigger or freer-flowing behind it will make little difference. I don't know if tubular 4-2-1 headers are available, but they might confer some gains.

Thanks for the help,
Sounds like it not really worth the money,
Other than making it sound faster LOL
I'll put the money towards something else

Not sure if it makes any difference as my cat was broken and not flowing at all, but i removed the broken cat in the manifold and changed the isolated pipe to a bigger one from the manifold and down to the in-line cat. Must be better flowing now but my gain was mostly or fully from removing the broken and constricted cats. Went from struggling in a 9,6% up hill in third gear in 80kmt to passing 120kmt in fifth and had to stop accelerating to avoid the fine and loosing my license.
Now got a bigger aftermarket cat in-line down below and nothing in the manifold. Still pass emissions test but that could be just luck i guess.
The manifold cat, and the isolated double pipe right after it, are the main offenders in the system for sure. The rest of the exhaust is well dimensioned.
