On a 4th Gen.

Do they rub? If so where. And is it under full suspension compression?

Do you have lift (30.9.50 I assume a must, although I've known people to run the 235's without).

Do they rub on full steering lock on the radius arms etc.

What rims are you using? I like the stock alloys, but all the tyre providers seem to say min of 6.0j wide rim for a 235/75R15. I think the factory alloys are only 5.5j aren't they?

Looking for taller tyre options over the 215/75R15's.

Ideally I think a 205/80R16 would be a good size, which is the same height as the 235/75R15, but narrower, but of course this means buying new rims, which massively increases the price of a tyre swap.

I've seen a vid in Oz of someone running the 30.9.50R15's although I'm guessing a re-gear is really going to be needed once you get to this size. Slightly fatter than the 235's and 29.6" tall vs 28.9"

Ultimately I think a 6.50 x 16 would be the answer as they should be about 29" tall and nice and skinny. But I could only find one maker who listed this size and they never replied to any attempts to contact them. I've not actually seen them for sale anywhere.

I have 235/75R15's running on the stock steel rims (no spacers). I only put them on after I lifted by 50mm. With the stock bumpers I needed to do a bit of trimming to the front, but they still caught while turning in reverse. However that was after I had already run the front bumper into the ground and bent the lower mounts, so don't really know how much trimming is really required.

I have after market bumpers now, so no issues rubbing on the bumpers. I have noticed some minor rubbing on the top of the front wheel arch lining. No rubbing on radius arms or anywhere else. Rears are fine, no rubbing anywhere.

I can confirm the front bumper mounts bend easily. I dropped the front wheel into a hole at the BigJimny event, everything seemed fine, but the near side front wheel caught the bumper at certain angles especially in reverse. I run 215s and no lift.

I drove home 300 miles without noticing it and it was only reversing in to a car park space a few days later that I heard it. Fortunately the lower metal mounts are thin and easy to straighten, I didn’t even need to take the bumper off.

Thanks for the info. I have an aftermarket bumper that has some adjustment in it. So I think I should be fine there. As long as they don't rub the rear arches or bumper that should be fine.

What bumpers are you running? Is it just the front or have you replaced the rear one too?

I have both front and rear steel bumpers. They were prototypes made by a local South African company Des-Sol - the production versions look somewhat different.  des-sol.co.za/
