You are looking at the JB64 wich differ from the more common (export) model JB74. Sometimes the JB74 is referred to as the "Jimny wide".
The JB64 is designed to comply with the Japanese domestic Kei Car regulations.
From Wikipedia:
The Jimny JB64 pictured top is compliant with Japan's kei-car class dimensions, omitting fender flares and having tucked-in bumpers. All other (export) versions have pronounced fender flares and larger bumpers.

Not sure where you are, but could be a japanese import.

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there

It will also have a tiny 650cc engine, turbo charged to give reasonable power at the expense of high fuel consumption.

I presume I could retrofit the wheel arch fenders and bigger bumpers if purchased? Nice to see one with the rear seats rather than the commercial variant that seems to be the only one available nowadays.

It could be a pre-launch demo. We had a few here in South Africa with weird configurations, when they launched them here.
