How to align alternator pulley was created by AldrinSarmiento
Does anyone know how to properly align the alternator pulley or the alternator itself? I can see that it's not aligned correctly and it's causing a lot of squeaking on cold start. I've already replaced my tensioner bearing, alternator bearing, and both belts, but the problem persists. Any tips on how to properly align them would be greatly appreciated.

If you are getting persistent belt squealing you need to check that the main crankshaft pulley is running true, they're a 2 piece design with an internal rubber damper that fails. Use a torch to see if you can see it wobble when running.

As far as I am aware it's the mounting points on the body of the alternator that determines the position of the pulley, the pulley itself is none adjustable. That said the body mounts are also normally none adjustable, other than for belt tension, the position of the pulley set by the manufacturer.
Of course it's possible to fit an aftermarket / wrong alternator, or fit packing to move the alternator position, this more likely if it's not a OEM unit.
So check the bottom pulley as indicated ^^^^, it's a common failure point. Also the belts are quite tight by comparison to old fashioned single V belts. I went to the trouble of setting one as per the Suzuki manual (set as a measurement of deflection with a known kg force). I was surprised just how tight this was, way more than my "normal it's about correct" setting. Prior to this I had the odd squeak after I change my belts, but after re-setting if been fine for a number of years.
