BF Goodrich ATK02 Fuel Consumption

BF Goodrich ATK02 Fuel Consumption was created by Williams
Thinking of changing the original Dueler tyres on my gen4 Commercial to BF Goodrich all terrain tyres and wondering if anyone has done this and has it affected fuel consumption and performance?
The other tyres I'm considering are the Fallen Wildpeak AT3W and would be interested if anyone has experience with these tyres after running the factory fit tyres?
Many thanks

I have the BFG All Terrains on my Gen.4 and can advise that you will loose 2 mpg in normal use. Noise will increase, but it is marginal and performance is also slightly affected but again, it is marginal. Grip on the road, wet or dry is still very good, surprisingly so considering you are driving a tall short narrow box with beam axles!

When you said 2mph less is that from the speedo/computer/odometer/trip computer as 215/75 vs 195/80 will cause the car to under read speed & distance by about 1.5%?

The mpg figures come from the on board computer and therefore do not take into account the difference between the rolling circumference of the two tyres, but the BFGs are worn to a greater extent than the std tyres and so the difference would be reduced to close to zero. Also the loss figure of 2mpg is not a percentage but actual. If I try to convert to percentage it would be close to 5.

If you plan on sticking with the OE tire size, I would not expect a noticeable difference in fuel consumption or performance, switching the tread pattern from a highway tread, which is what I think the commercial is fitted with, to an all terrain tread may be more noisy, but I would not expect it to be significant.
I went from the OEM (195/80R15 Dunlop) tires on my JB74, to a slightly taller 215/75R15 General Grabber A/TX, the change in road noise was not noticeable, road holding & ride quality were significantly improved, the impact on performance was just noticeable, this however was not reflected in the fuel consumption.
I do not rely on the on board computer for fuel consumption numbers, I maintain a spreadsheet and enter the quantity of fuel added at each fill up and the odometer reading at that time - consumption does vary from one tank to the next, and I generally don't lose sleep over it.
If you plan on changing the size, that is likely to have a bigger impact on performance & economy than changing the tread pattern
