I'm thinking about getting a clear wrap on my roof to protect against scratches associated with using the roof bars. I'm going to look for quotes locally but just wanted a baseline to judge against if people are happy to divulge what they paid give or take. Cheers.

I paid £380 for my RR evoque roof wrap but this was back in 2018 so I’d imagine it’s more now. I’ve just peeled it off after just over 4 years with it as it was bubbling up and peeling off in places so I would budget that you may have to re do a PPF especially if it gets damaged. I wouldn’t have a Wrap again on any of my cars as it didn’t look as good as paint and started to wear after two years. Protected the paint though and did change the look of the car which is what I wanted but just isn’t a long term thing without being redone at some point. Also get it done by a reputable company with good reviews as I’ve seen a lot of poorly done wraps that haven’t lasted after driving it out of the workshop along with a damaged car!

I have heard about a film that is usually used on leading edge surfaces of high speed cars to withstand stone chips allegedly it self heals? Either way something to protect the roof against strap rash has to be worth looking at.

What about a Vinyl roof 70s style, might start a new trend?

In contrasting chiffon ivory with seams down each of the corrugations? No thanks.

Gaffa, i like it. :) My solution is to ignore and accept any and all scratches scrubs and even dents on my jimny :)

But seriously I got a VW T5 "camper van" with a Fiamma camper trailer awning so it hangs on the side of the roof above the doors from a rail.
Since the VW T5 might be worth something when I am done with it, I put clear vinyl on the roof where the awning hangs.
Far from pretty, but pretty from far off, and will protect the paint.

Perhaps it should be

ガム・テープ
gamu teepu (gum tape).
(Japanese for Gaffa Tape).

Just so yakuza doesn't feel left out apparently the Norwegian is Gaffateip.

Gaffa tape on a Land Rover, what is this modern witchcraft of which you talk?
Bailer twine is as good as most repairs get.

Yokohama Geolanders, Sony head unit, NAUTILUS Air Horn, DRL conversion, Rear cargo space, Elvis Bobblehead, transfer Guard, Indian hanging Elephant, Koni Heavy track dampers, Custom SS exhaust, Voodoo Doll, Adventure Rack with LED ight bar, vintage ERIBA caravan usually attached (yes it's slow)

No no I am most certainly not left out, love Gaffa and have Just fixed my 84 Gen.2 jimny dashbord heater ducts with correct color code tape for my Silver SJ410.
Hence the other name, duct tape.
You know ducktape can seal quacks. but only quacks would use it on ducts. And gaffers use some other tape apparently... :)
