Fan belt change was created by Willjimny
Heyup, my fan belt has snapped on my 2006 jimny!!!. I was just wondering if you are able to just change the fan and alternator belt without taking the power steering belt off. So in theory would it be possible to just take one belt off or change them both at the same time. Cheers will.

From memory the alternator belt is behind the power steering belt, so you have to take the PAS belt to get the alternator belt on.

Do you know what caused the belt to snap? My crank pulley failed on the rubber drive and chucked both belts off, it chewed one of them, the alternator I think, but the other was OK.

Hi drrobin, I’m not actually sure how it snapped, maybe just old age as I believe they are the factory ones, hopefully it won’t be a problem with the pulleys and tensioner. Thanks for the info.

Power steering belt does indeed need to come off, but it is easy to do.
You can gain a little more working space by removing the the 2 bolts that hold the top of the radiator and leaning the radiator towards the front of the car.
The power steering tensioner had a slot in it for a 10mm hex key to aid tensioning.
The bottom pivot bolt on the alternator that you can't easily see is an 8mm hex key.
