Tow bar electrics Gen 4 was created by lightning
l got my tow bar second hand and there were either no instructions or l've lost them.
I fitted the tow bar and wiring harness but there's a two pin connector left over on the tow bar harness.
l've looked on Youtube for videos showing how to install the wiring and it only says that the connector is for "specific caravan applications"
As we want to be able to tow our small caravan with the Jimny, can anyone tell me what l need to do with this connector? The wires look to be heavy gauge so l assume it's some sort of power feed.

I take it there's not an obvious connection near where your spare wires terminate? Not having a 4 I can't be much help.

How many pins has the tow bar connector 7 or 13?
The following guide shows the wiring of both.
www.witter-towbars.co.uk/knowledge-hub/t...the-definitive-guide
If you have a 13 pin socket then it wil be for permanent power, but the 7 pin only have lights, indicators, brake and fog. Unless of course you have two sockets on the back, the additional for power?

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there

At a guess it is the power feed for the 'fridge & battery charge.
On my gen 4 there is a wire that goes all the way to the fuse box and has one of those "bodg'em up" piggy back fuse connectors (so the lid now lives in the glovebox, along with anything else that falls off

lt's got a 13 pin socket.
It's also got the wire to the fuse box. l've connected the caravan and the ATC & fridge don't work so it must be a permanent and switched live feed.
