It's not one with the collision avoidance, lane departure warning or hill decent control is it? A malfunction in one of those systems could have your symptoms. After that it could be worth checking the front calipers are not sticking.

Remember Daniel had a thread about poor fuel economy so no doubt the two issues are linked. It could well be brakes sticking.

I am not sure which model he has or how old it is to know if it has the other features.

thank you everyone for answering
no, you all got me wrong, i dont feel the same smoothness when its on N going downhill, i dont mean downhill like a mountain but rather an inclined road.
in N it goes down smooth, but when on D i know it should have a drag because the car is moving the engine nevertheless i feel like it brakes on itself a little from one moment to another and its not smooth like going down on N, what about you guys? when going down on D do you experience too much resistance?

No my gen3 automatic will hold basically at whatever speed I accelerated to for quite a considerable distance on anything resembling even a slight down slope and on a more meaningful gradient will need periodically braking to maintain the desired speed. However I don't have hill decent control or emergency braking etc. The only time I have felt anything like what you describe is the occasion I had contaminated fuel but that was a more vague feeling of something just generally being wrong.

I want my gearbox to last indefinitely so I only use neutral when stationary. Dropping in and out of drive and neutral at any road speed is going to adversely affect the longevity of the gearbox. If the car is moving it is in gear.

I'm on Lambert's side
I don't know anything about autos ,if jimny's rolling at speed in neutral is the fluid pump turning are bearings running dry?

Although it turned out they used US gallons, when converted to Imperial gallons their MPG is about bang on I'd say.

Are you sure this isn't normal engine braking? Have you driven any other auto Jimny's for comparison or any other automatic vehicles? The Jimny shouldn't behave any differently to any other automatic.

It is engine braking. When going downhill on the brakes, the Gen 4's auto box will change down to a gear appropriate for the speed.
