A quick check on the RAC website gives the following info.
If a tyre is marked M and S (Mud and Snow ) it is not necessarily a winter tyre. If it has the snowflake symbol, then it is a proper winter tyre.

That's like saying having a tufty badge makes you a traffic warden.A quick check on the RAC website gives the following info.

Yokohama Geolanders, Sony head unit, NAUTILUS Air Horn, DRL conversion, Rear cargo space, Elvis Bobblehead, transfer Guard, Indian hanging Elephant, Koni Heavy track dampers, Custom SS exhaust, Voodoo Doll, Adventure Rack with LED ight bar, vintage ERIBA caravan usually attached (yes it's slow)

Yoko's have both M+S and the 3PMSF markings (3 peak), I am sure others do. What ever is printed on them the Yoko's work very well in snow, which tends to be a winter thing, hence why I recommend them.
