Just purchased a 2002 auto Jimny and would like to lift it a bit, if I put 1.5inch spring spacers on it 
do i then have to put extenders on the shocks or not ?

Welcome to the forum. Ideally yes as it will save the dampers from constant maximum extentions. However if at all possible more benefits will be had from replacing the dampers with longer new ones as the existing ones will be very tired after 20 years. Ii accept that is a larger financial commitment but it will pay off if you intend to keep the Jimny longer term.

I'd recommend extended braided brake hoses too as when on full articilation yu might snap existing rubber brake hoses.

Thanks for the reply's it might be close on 20 years old but it only has 14.000
on clock with one lady owner who never went out in the rain kept it in the garage, it is like new underneath no rust at all. I'm just going to enjoy lifting it and will be back on hear for more advice thanks for the help.
