What's bizarre is you can find them on sale at dealers for less.
Here's a 2018 that's been for sale a few weeks, it's only done 4,000 miles.

The annual tax of £490 in the advert will be putting them off...

Yes l did notice that!

Following advice above l have updated the value on our insurance to £28,000
As insurance pays out the replacement value (up to the value you insured it for) in the highly unlikely event that it's a total loss.
So if you insured it for £20,000 that's the most you will get.
Worth updating your policy where possible. lt didn't cost anything to update our policy.

I was speaking to a dealer down in Devon on friday who had just sourced one for a customer, they paid over £29,000 for it.

The customer paid over £29,000? (surely the dealer didn't....)

lt's a lot for a Jimny. But it might still make sense if bought on a PCP, due to high residual value at the end of the term making the payments lower.

And as the customer never owns the vehicle, if the payments are low enough it doesn't matter what the retail price is.

That might explain the high prices. Apparently 90% of people now buy cars on PCP agreements.

Strange stuff going on, my brother owned an Audi Q3 for a year, didn't like it so sold it to WBAC for a grand less than he paid for it, went to Cazoo and bought a BMW X3, got it home and priced it through WBAC and he could have made nearly a grand selling it to them!
Read an article online in Car Dealer, some dealers are buying cars from Cazoo and putting them on the forecourt, apparently cheaper than crazy auction prices at the moment and no preparation costs.
