It depends.... Complete third members are switchable between all years. However if you are only swappng the diff unit there are 2 types. Early models are 8 bolt ring gear. They switched from an 8 bolt ring gear to a 10 bolt ring gear before the VVT models but I'm not sure when. It may be that the change was made when they went from single to twin cam engines. All VVTs are 10 bolt.

An easy way to identify which diff you have: Look at the diff through the OS wheel arch. 8 bolt diffs have an adjuster nut on the side of the housing, roughly miidway between the prop flange and the axle mounting surface. 10 bolts diffs don't have any adjustment nuts on the casting.
