Portable hoist? was created by Lambert
Whatcha, as a present to me and my increasing knee and other joint injuries I am looking for a portable midrise car ramp hoist. The main use will be for removing and applying waxoyl but it will also be good for general maintenance and as Dreadnaught gets older potential welding too. I know that increasing numbers of places rent ramp time but I can see problems rocking up with the pressure washer and making a serious mess. So does anyone have any recommendations?

Have you got a tractor with a 3 point linkage and hydraulics ? If so, get an FLT mast and you can lift the car to any height, they are a useful tool on the farm too.....
I use a tele-handler at Bob's farm, it's got extended forks and a 3 ton swl so doesn't bat an eye at the Jimny. I always put a timber chock under the main arm whilst under the car.

The lift capacity of my main tractor is nominally the same as the weight of the car so with a carrier it would be sketchey at best.
I have seen a 1m 3000kg lift but it's not cheap, but how much do I value working comfortably?

I have often pondered the same question, driven by the same age related issues.
Space (or lack of) is one of my main problems, you may have more availability on the farm?
For me the best fit at the moment is one of these, balancing cost etc:
ebay.us/xqo8OC
Just a quick example, seen cheaper.
If I had the space I would consider an old fashioned "brick" raised ramp, seen one at an old RAF base and just like the look.
All of the portable lifts I have seen appear to compromise access under the vehicle, but they do keep the wheels free. I personally want more under vehicle access than lifted wheels.
So not found anything better at the moment and don't have room for a tractor, although I would like one.

The display ramps while cheaper aren't particularly easy to store and aren't that versatile for general service. But equally won't mind getting wet as there's no electric inside.
