New wheels & tyres needed help please was created by Brucester
Hi, need a set of 4 (preferably 5) wheels and tyres for 2001 JLX.
Currently have 205/70/15 on 15 inch Samurai steels.
Would prefer to get 16" alloys or steels plus tyres.
There used to be somewhere on here years ago that sold Wheel and Tyre packages but can't find them anywhere.
I don't want to pay a fortune and would rather stay original than go for something aftermarket.
Any suggestions as to where to try and what options would be appreciated as i haven't got a clue when it comes to offsets and overhead underhangs etc.
Many thanks in advance.

No, nothing, not even after 50 views? Ok try this one - i found some Raptor Black Steel 7" x 16" with 20 offset on E-Bay. What size tyres would i need if i currently have 205/70/15 tyres on 15" steels? It may seem obvious i need 205/60/16 but i want to make sure i don't throw the speedo and odo out.

Firstly if your jimny is standard height
and you have no plans to lift it
You'll have to fit 0 off set wheels
205 65 16 is the size you require (this size will only offer you road biased tyres)

Many thanks Jack. I was actually just looking at the 5 Vitara ones you have for sale but looks like they wont be suitable plus im in Gillingham, Kent. I assume my Jimny is standard height and i don't plan on lifting it or anything else other than drive it on the road.
So to recap, i need to look for 16" alloys or steels with 0 offset and get 205/65/16 tyres? But what about the width of the steels / alloys for that size tyre and would i be able to get 225 wide tyres and if so what width steels / alloys? Sorry about all the q's.

7" width rim
If you want the 225 you would be pushing it with 65 profile these could catch
But a 225/60/16 sits around 3.5mm taller than 205/70/15

I think i know what you mean. If i had 225/60/16 the tyre would be 3.5mm closer to the wheel arch than the current 205/70/15 (assuming both set ups had the same tyre pressures if you know what i mean). I assume the 3.5mm difference would be negligible on the speedo / odo?

Your odo will be a little more accurate than it is now.

Hi Brucester,
How are you getting on with this? I am in the exact Same boat probably way behind the knowledge you have gained here.
Please can you help me a bit I bought the wife a 59plate JLS Plus and she would like some chunkier tyres but she doesn’t want them to be wider than the body too much. Mentioned getting the alloys that are poor re-coated and buy tyres or is the way forward by a full set not sure how to put pictures on here to give an example of the type of effect she would like .
