Apologies, more questions, musings and thoughts. Of which I'm sure have been covered before. Really after peoples insights, ideas or stuff I've not thought of.
Like Land Rover, Suzuki sadly don't seem to equip the Jimny with suitable front and rear recovery points from the factory. No idea why they believe this is acceptable on a vehicle such as this. And worse, they leave no real provision to affix anything either.
Lets start at the front.
What options are there for front recovery?
I've seen the yellow APIO mount that beefs up the factory location and sort of locates on the chassis:
jimnystyle.com/collections/exterior-acce...or-suzuki-jimny-2018
However my recent foray off road has shown that the factory recovery point easily digs into the ground and even the front bumper, right where this APIO recovery point would be. I'd worry about bending it big time. Especially when the ground is hard.
I've also seen the Jimnybits recovery point, which looks very sturdy, but does require quite a bit to fit, as well as cutting to the bumper. Although I know a few of you on here have this.
Are there any other options presently?
I'm not sure if I want to stick with the standard bumper or not. A lift and slightly bigger tyres will help the approach angle. But the ultimate solution would be a different bumper. The Jimnybits recovery point looks unlikely to fit with an after market bumper. And is maybe a little too pricey to buy then not need.
Although here is the next issue. While I can find pics of quite a few bumpers via Google. I can't find many for sale. The ARB Summit Bar bumper looks quite nice, although probably a lot of nose weight. And importantly it retains the fog/DRL's and headlight washers. But it doesn't seem to have a recovery point on it??
I also can't seem to get any word from ARB on where to buy it or if it is E-marked (they advertise it on the European site though).
I can't seem to find any other solutions to retaining the fog/DRL/washers, improving front approach angle and getting a good recovery point? Anyone found a solution?
Personally I'm not interested in a winch at all. I'd never use it. And while I don't mind something "HD". I'd rather not add a tonne of weight to the front of the vehicle either. Part of the Jimny's charm is it's low weight.

So onto the rear of the vehicle. I can't say I've been anymore successful in finding a solution here either. The main issue is having a towbar AND a recovery point.
In terms of towbars, I'd find one handy. But I don't want one that hangs way down and acts like a plough. I know in most cases a towbar can be used for recovery, although a regular towball isn't really the most ideal.
For rear recovery points I've again seen the APIO offering. But this time it doesn't locate on the chassis directly and only seems to beef up the factory point, relying fully on the welds. Although I'm guessing due to it's location, it might fit with a towbar?

The scrutineer in me says it just isn't really a very good recovery point though, although it is fairly affordable to buy.
And also again, Jimnybits offer something more substantial looking. Which I also know a few of you on here are running. I really like this design. But sadly it is incompatible with a towbar......!!!!
A towbar incorporating these recovery points is what is needed.
Anyone seen anything else that is suitable?

Has you may have seen i made apio style front for mine
For the rear apio jsut looks like a shaped plate
For your rears have a look what you have to play with behind the bumper
Make your own rears :woohoo: first make card templates
If you can't fab yourself make it from 4-6mm ply till you're happy
then find a local man that can make your design from steel

I've used a Dixon Bate tow hitch on a tow bar in the past until I had a massive ring of metal welded onto the top of the tow bar.
I think that's the strongest thing for the rear.
Contact Rhino Ray for a front bumper. His look like ARB's but are a lot cheaper and you don't have to put a winch in it. He will add recovery points to them if needed.
