Correct. The Jimny front driveline is double isolated. Once in the transfer box and again in the hubs. It is possible to lock the hubs and still safely drive in 2x4 just as it is possible to unlock the hubs and drive in 2x4 lo on a hard surface. Manual hubs off a greater degree of flexibility to the Jimny. Just don't forget what position they are in if intending to engage 4x4 on a hard surface.

You can change the vac lines for 4mm pneumatic plastic tube
Or go manual hubs almost fit and forget low maintenance

You could convert the vacuum hubs to fixed using the sticky thread in the technical section. It would be a free way round the problem. I ran mine like that for years without issue.

Don't underestimate the convenience of a working vacuum system. For the price of some tubing it's with persisting with.

I totally agree with you busta. Couldnt possibly imagine having to get out in the rain and cold and deep water to engage the hubs .

But there's nothing to stop you from engaging the hubs as you set off for a dayoj day on the lanes and then unlocking them as you park up once home again, 4x4 is then available as necessary on the buttons just like normal.
