2" lift on a budget

i have a 55 plate JLX Jimny to which i wont to modify with a 2" lift chunky tyres and use it to get to work im on a small budget can this be done what is the best size tyre to get without cutting the archers

235's are the most common options if you wish to retain as close as possible to the standard Rolling Radius.
We didnt cut the arches per say ... only shaved about 30mm off the bottom of the rear bumper to accommodate our much taller 215 tyres.

On my previous offroader (a Daihatsu Sportrak) i lifted it for about 30 quid, if you get your hands on a meter length of engineering nylon for about 20 quid cut it to 50mm lengths and hey presto a cheap body lift.

This might help you, go to page 6 on technical,look for eco spring+body lift.This will give you a 2 inch lift.

Thanks guys now i have some idea what to fit for the 2" lift my next question is do i need to change the brake lines for longer ones. If i use the 2" body lift a lot of things need to change shorly ????

If you go up 2" with spring spacers or longer springs and didn't fit longer shocks or shock extensions you wouldn't need extended brake lines - you would have limited articulation though.

To get the most from your lift you would idealy fit longer shocks to match or shock extensions for your standard shocks. The amount of articulation you get is mostly goverened by the shocks (and anti roll bar on the front). If you go off tarmac with longer shocks there's a fair old chance that your brake lines will be too short for the amount of travel that may occur at the axle.

I had standard brake hoses at first with a 2" lift + extended shocks - I found I could jack the vehicle up on the offside chassis rail so far that the rear wheel was still on the ground but the rear brake hose was stretched to the max - obviously when your out in the field this could have nasty results.
