Even at £225 it's worth it.

Yeah runs just like standard but with a bit more power.

New inlet + exhaust gaskets, oil+filter and some coolant was all I bought but get the oil filter screw too because getting that out was a bit of a pain.

He says he'll take £200. I asked where it was from and the donor had ecu issues as the engine was cutting out as well as other mot things that needed doing so scrapped it. 68k is almost half my mileage too lol.

Hmmm I'm very tempted indeed! Will text my mechanic Tomo and ask how long he reckons it'll take.

Really appreciate the help as always and great to hear yours is running well!

I fully plan on never selling the Jimny so don't mind spending a bit to improve it.

Wonder if the old engine is worth anything as scrap?

The 'ECU' issues will be the crank position sensor- the same reason I got my Liana cheap. So get a new one or swap over your Jimny one. Think my £340 Liana had done under 50k miles when I got it! I drove it around for 18 months before the swap so the engine is up to 70 now. Not that mileage makes any difference with these engines.

The scrap price is rubbish so no point weighing it in at the minute. I've kept my old engine for spares. The cylinder head and cams are the same, so if the head gasket ever goes I have a spare that doesn't need skimming. You might get £50 for it on the forum or eBay? Or see if the place your getting the Liana one from want it?

Ah that's handy to hear mate- wonder why they never thought of that?! Mine seems ok so would swap it across to save some cash. I'm hoping six hours of labour will be enough for the swap as that's only £150, maybe £50 in gaskets and oil so approx £400 all in if I'm lucky.

Nice low miles on yours too! I've never heard of a head gasket going on an M series..... Everyone seems to say they're pretty robust! Therefore I would probably sell my old engine if I could get a bit of cash for it. Great idea to offer it to the Ebay guy as he might knock 50 quid more off his engine!

When you say the oil filter screw I don't suppose you kept note of the part number for that and the gaskets I need did you? I'm being terribly lazy for asking ha but you never know! :)

The Liana isn't very popular and doesn't have a good online community like the Jimny, so common problems go un-diagnosed.
Yeah headgasket will probably never happen, but it's there just in case!
Sorry, I don't have the numbers to hand but my local Suzuki dealer found them easily enough with the Jimny reg. They had to get the gaskets in but it was only a couple of days and they delivered for free.
I re-used to old filter screw but I had to weld a bracket to it to unscrew it, then grind it back to shape and re-thread it so it wasn't straight forward.

Thanks Busta- I'll pop in my local dealer and ask them to look the bits up.

Re the engine he has sent me two possible registrations for it (he broke two) and one shows 85k and the other 90k so a fair bit more than I thought.

Is it still worth putting one of this mileage in do you reckon?
