hi all thanks for the replies is it 5w30 semi synthetic you use or 5w30 c3 fully synthetic as i have been told that 10w40 is supposed to be thick for the oil galleries in the engine?

10w40 is fine. Too thick for the oil galleries, what codswallop!

Thin oil can get past the piston rings if too thin and thick oil won't lubricate enough but they're isn't much in it between 5w30 and 10w40! Even Suzuki suggest 10w40 in some climates and that's all I've used as a result with no issues!

If you've a low mileage vvt engine then 5w30 all the way but if it's got a few miles on the clock then 10w40 to it doesn't use as much.

Mine has never used oil and stays at the right temperature all the time.

When I bought the car it was recommended the Mobil 5w30 "Super Ecopower", Semi Synthetic, but they changed the recommendation to a 5w3o fully synthetic now.
