jimny sohc g13b / g16b timing belt change was created by suzukisam
Im currently doing my 1.6 conversion from g13b to g16b there both same engine near enough but was wondering when i took belt off the cam pulley turned and crank pulley any way i timed them back up ie cam at "E" mark top dead centre and crank at Arrow to arrow see pic attached but my question is it cant be 180 degrees out etc can it ? It doesn't matter if they moved slightly on there own ? As long as its timed up .
Ive turned by hand and feels fine nothing notchy...
Please put my mind at rest : )]

For a full cycle the crankshaft rotates twice to the camshafts once, i.e. suck, squeeze, bang and blow!! for every cylinder so for a 4 cylinder engine for each 180 degree crankshaft rotation each of the cylinders is in one of the strokes in that order. So if the crankshaft is at TDC then generally the numbers 1&4 will be at the top. If the camshaft mark is aligned then generally that shows that No 1 is on compression. Not all engine manufacturers mark the pulleys mind but generally most do. As that will happen only once every 2 crankshaft rotations then yes to your question. To convince yourself visually rotate the crankshaft one full rotation and the camshaft mark will have moved only halfway round(180degrees) assuming you had the marks set at the timing position.
