Hi People after Rolling my SJ over 3 and a half times a couple of weeks ago I am think of getting a Jimny hoping it will be a little more stable I have posted a similar question on Difflock and the general consensus seems go wider as you go higher.

Well I have a nice shiny set of 16 x 7J GV Rims that i would like to fit to a jimny the tyres on them are 235 X 85 X 16 Recip 3D's witch comes out about 32" I have wheel spacers to fit on as well but what sort of lift would I need to fit them, I don't mind doing a bit of trimming. With them fitted and the lift would it be too high and roll over.

Also what do you guys use as recovery points on you Jimnys. before you fit the bigger bumpers etc.

Thanks all for now but I will let you know as soon as soon as I have got one.

My Jimny has a 2" lift, and runs 215x15 diamond backs. 30mm spacers about to go on but not fitted yet, and I have done literally minimal body modifications ( 2 " off the bottom of the rear bumper ).
the general consensus is if your putting bigger rims on, then you need to trim the wheel arche lips and remove the liners (detailed on here).
you can get away with fitting a body lift and not modifying the arches so Ive read.

As for stability, my Husband drives ours a lot and aside from the jelly like handling, its all down to respect. its not going to handle like a porsche around a corner, but then a porsche wont handle anything more challenging than a speed bump in ADSA !!

As for offroad stability, this is an issue im currently investigating as yesterday, we almost rolled (well it felt like it) ours showing off to the camera and getting the jeep balancing on opposite wheels.
I cannot host videooutside facebook, but at one point, I actually was concerned when my husband went 6 inches forward, and that resulted in the jeep being at a very concerning angle !!

For side ways angles, Ive been able to reach out of the drivers window and touch the floor when traversing some gullys too. I think that was a little extreme !!
