"Come-along"
I have recently noticed portable winches that are powered off the car battery with 8' of power lead and corded plus remote. All the gear shown in this pic.
Has anyone used one of these systems yet? I like the idea of only putting the winch in the car when going off-road, keeps the weight down plus you can winch from front or back or even sideways I guess :woohoo:

I can't see a 2000lb winch being much better, OK for an ATV maybe but not a full-size vehicle and definately not one thats stuck.

i use one simular to that.but my getting stuck is different to the way you guys get stuck
when i got it we had a lump of nearly 1ton metal pipe at work so i used that to tighten the wire up on the pully
it dragged it no bother along the car park but took ages , it seems to have a low gear ratio on it

I had one of these 3000lb winches fitted on the jimny when I got it and you would be extremely surprised where it pulled me out from and never let me down half way up the door in water and mud and that horrible clay type mud for around 30 metres was one of the worst bits
few pics I have of places it pulled me out of
