1.6 conversion worth it off road? was created by rexthecat
Sort of got the bug to save some cash and put a V6 in, but no way I could do that myself and with the amount of work involved it'll take a fair bit of saving, so wondering about a 1.6, just wondering if they are worth it for off roading or is the extra power more noticable on road. The folks I've met using Jimnys to do trials seem to stick with the 1.3 which makes me wonder. Each to their own etc just wondered what you folks thought.

Depends what you want to do really. The 1.3 engine is fine of occasional offroading. But for challenge use, I'd consider a bigger engine of some sort. Maybe even a 2.5 V6.

I did the 1.6 conversion on mine,i do a fair bit of green laning not into p+p and trials ect,was the best mod i did tbh, making it much easyer to drive to and from lanes and also on the lanes in low box it feels effortless especially running bigger mud tyres.id say if you can do it cheaply enough well worth doing.

I always found the Jimny a bit lacking low down compared to the Vit, the 1.6 conversion fixes that very nicely.

Some Suzukis and a bunch of motorcycles.

Cant say ive heard a negative comment about the after affects of the 1.6 conversion, sure ive heard better mpg mentioned aswell, im guessing the 1.6 develops more torque which is always good for offroading.
