Be that as it may my point still stands, the carcass of the tyre is already been used and no matter how carefully applied the selection process is there is no way of knowing what happened to it prior to being retreaded or remoulded.

I am not disputing that such tyres are made to a high standard nor that the process is both thorough and at the same time impressive to watch. What I am saying is that a tyre made from scratch by the likes of pirelli or Michelin or Goodyear or Dunlop or any of the other major brands is a better bet if for no other reason than it is new and therefore you as the first user know what you have done to it. With a remanufacturd tyre or even ones that came on a second hand car there is a part of the history of the tyre be it part of the inner structure or the entire thing, that you don't know about and anything could have been done to it that could affect its safety. Given that the only bit of a car that touches the floor are the tyres I have learned the hard way to wherever possible have the best quality tyres I can. Now I have had remanufactured tyres and even second hand ones and some have been fine but enough have caused some sort of issue to put me off be itccracking or delamination or simply wear rate. New branded tyres are better.
