And escape out of the whole why do trailmaster supply them with there shocks then surely they know a thing or two about shock absorbers so would they not supply them with them if they were that damaging to the shock, mines been on a year now no pitting or rust has formed on the piston and it still looks like new around the seal as the boot has protected it, I suppose it might be a different matter if I went mud plugging every weekend I could see the point of the boot filling up but I don't think Halford will be doing this and the boot will just keep a bit more road crude off of it.
When metal cools, each night for example, it attracts condensation. Once in a rubber boot it can't just run out and is stuck in it. As it heats it forms droplets inside the boot and so it goes on. Simples.

Well.. My bilstein shocks have boots. Same as Trail Master and others as well. Now after one years use they still looks like new.
The Rough Country shocks I had before without boots looked shit after 6 months and with corrosion spots on the piston shaft.
The trick to avoid condensation build up is to have vent holes in the boot. Which my Bilsteins have from factory.. and my guess is that Trail Master shocks have them as well.
