Tow-Trust towbar - any good? was created by Sandspider
Hi all

I'm looking for a towbar for my Jimny. I stumbled across the Tow-Trust range. They seem quite good value, and not too much hassle to fit ( www.towbars-uk.co.uk/product/7055/suzuki-jimny- ), plus they have a lifetime guarantee. Has anyone tried these bars? Are they any good? Do they last? It would be better if the towball was removeable, but...

I did try a search on here, but couldn't find much about them.

Thanks.

just had a peek and at that price it looks OK to me
I'd get the 3.5 Tonne Ball & Pin Hitch
and don't forget you need electrics as when a tow bar is fitted, it's tested on the MOT

as for lasting, the steel can't be any worse than the grade used on the rest of the Jimny
but as it's thicker, it'll certainly outlive the truck
;)

I have been looking at the same towbar. Seems to look right and the price is good. Looked at the installation instructions and they say don't need to remove bumper. The holding bolts seems to be at the bottom with the nuts at the top. Others are the other way round and also say have to remove the bumper. The single electric kit also looks good value. Have you seen the vehicle steps that attach to this towbar? My only concern is what you actually get as the picture in the installation instructions is not the same as the up front picture. Why don't I call them and ASK them !!

The tow trust hangs below the bumper quite a bit... Looking fairly shocking, and also affecting the ground clearance... Unlike some of the others that are only visible in the centre where the hitch attaches.

I've had no experience fitting a tow trust, but have fitted, removed and refitted my witter bar, and there is no chance you could fit a towbar without removing the rear bumper. The bumper can be removed in 10mins

+1, you will have to remove it

and yes, if you do plan on off-roading, your ground clearance will be compromised.
that said - really glad I had it during my weekends off-roading adventures as it was scraping and grinding all the time, luckily protecting my S/S exhaust :S

Dunno if that optimism applies to my Chimny; I had to replace one bolt underneath just because it had pulled through and it took an hour. I thought I'd do the similar on the other side and got nowhere with it so left it.

I've had various makes over the years from Witter to ebay and there's nowt to choose between them IMHO but the idea of some being lower is interesting as I had not thought of that. ;)
