Many thanks Martin, spot on service.
Just out of interest, who do you all use for aftermarket parts? Run of the mill stuff, exhausts etc etc?

Cheers

I use whoever is cheapest. In general my local motor factors is ok or I search online for parts.
I have not had to buy an exhaust yet but people have had problems locating exhausts at reasonable prices.

Changed the bearings today, only took about an hour, most of the time was spent cleaning the sludge off!!
Hub nuts a bit of a pain in the backside, might have to make a socket up for that.
Just thought I'd share some pics of the state of the bearings, top set are on the right.
May have to find a supplier for new swivel housing bolts, mine have nearly had it, god bless the Irwin set!!
Cheers

Thats interesting, this is the second set I have seen with what looks like some sort of attempt at sealing the bearing. Someone else has also mentioned that sealed bearing seem to exist.
When I took up selling the Kingpin Bearings I bought the genuine Suzuki ones which were plain old 30302 bearings and virtually all of the ones I have seen have had plain 30302 bearings in them. I would be interested in whether there are any part numbers on the bearings. Mind you, the seal is going to have little effect as the taper part of the bearing cannot be sealed anyway.
And do you want the bad news, you did not need to undo the hub nut to change the Kingpin Bearings.
Martin.

Hi Martin,
bear in mind I'm an old landy owner!!
I'll get the part numbers off the old bearings if you want them.
I must say the steering is now as tight as a...................................., well, you get the rest!!
I'm going to have to get a stock of some metric fine nuts & bolts though - 2000 model, things are a bit rusty!!

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there
