Fst Jimny.Diesel or Petrol?Restyled will be Disel? was created by SalvoRGB
Hello everyone, I am writing from Italy, so excuse me for my poor English.
Are in the process of buying my first jeep and I plan to take the Jimny as I try something I can easily run into town with a couple of highway exits week and some light off-road excursion on weekends, which allows me to reach places "unknown to photograph, because my real passion is nature photography, so I need the off-road.
The question right now is: buy a used Diesel or Petrol, maybe again?
The Diesel is interesting for that develops 200 Nm against 110 of Petrol. Now I'm not ferratissimo on mechanics and I've never tried it a Jimny Diesel and even a gas, but I know that Nm is especially critical in an SUV, it allows us to have more strength, especially on hill starts, and climbs general.
Having said that I would recommend a Vs. I found a Jimny 1.5 DDIS JLX Suzuki warranty of November 2010 until November 2013, with assets of 12,000 km, Dark Grey, 13.800 €.
Or should I wait for the restyling, which views the network from the photos I really like, buy it now and he would speak to January 2013. Facelift that certainly has the petrol engine but also that I hope will come out because Diesel as seen from the photos, www.autoblog.it/post/45889/suzuki-jimny-...magini-del-restyling
it seems to me that we wanted to create more space inside the hood, which together with the ventilation nozzle, makes me think that probably a Euro 5 diesel engine to Suzuki found it.

Welcome along. Your English is great (much better than my Italian)
The diesel Jimny is not actually sold in the UK so not many on this site will have much experience of it.
However the petrol is fine in most situations, if you are only going to do light ofroading it has plenty enough power because the car is light weight.
However the petrol is a bit slow on the highway.
Personally I'm not a fan of the facelift, I've not read any details on if it is going to get a revised engine or not though.

Thanks goatboy, we hope that others then give us information, particularly about the likely diesel.

I can give you some information gathered from our Romanian 4x4 forum, if it helps somehow.
The diesel engine was sort of an experiment meant for european markets, where fuel is expensive and small diesel engines are highly regarded. It's a 1.5 liter unit from Renault, not a very modern one (which means it's generally reliable). Overall opinion is the body and chassis were not designed for this engine and it shows in a saggy front and more shaking inside the cabin. I've seen the diesel version is quite popular in Germany, but Suzuki gave up on it a long time ago (that means it's not sold anywhere in Europe anymore). In Romania it was never imported officially, for example.
Most opinions will probably tell you to stick with the petrol version; it's well engineered, lightweight, reliable and more than enough for this little car. Plus, it's "how it was meant to be from the beginning"

As I said before the feature that interests me most is that the diesel engine develops 200 Nm at 2000 rpm, while the petrol only 110 to 4000 rpm

Remember you have low gear when torque is needed.
