Powder coating alloys was created by Trillian
My alloys are in a bit of a state, the drivers side are quite badly corroded, but the passengers are barely at all, I'm guessing the previous owner parked on a street where they often gritted. So I'm considering having them powder coated at Romax in Stockton. I've been quoted £49 per wheel and I can choose any colour I like. A mate reckoned Impreziv in Darlington did them for £30 per wheel, but when I called they said they no longer do alloys any more.

Has anyone here had theirs done? Has anyone had them done at Romax? Is this a good price?

Don't know any of the companies mentioned but £50 a wheel sounds about right from when I have researched in the past.
I've heard other says £30 a wheel to but I'm yet to actually ever find one of these super cheap companies...
£50 to £75 a wheel whenever I have rung round...

Sims, my local Suzuki dealer, quoted £75 per wheel just to have them re furbed, but I think they are generally pricey as they are selling a Jimny of the same year as mine but only the jlx model for a substantial amount more than I just paid for mine, with more miles on the clock.

So if this is a good price, think I should go for a colour??

Cheaper to find a 2nd hand alloy, have you tried a few local breakers?

Yeah I've had a look round for used alloys and they are about the same price but have corrosion and scuffs. Japanese alloys are known for this and I have a few mates with the same issue, but different japanese car manufacturers.

If you've the money available - go for it. Thats the same sort of money companies charge round here, one company charges that for blasting and coating.

Black Jimny's don't get stuck!

the only thing i would say about powder coating is that if you knock a wheel, it general leaves a fairly big chip which is worse than if they have been painted and lacquered.

I say this because i have alloys refurbed every week for the garage and its always better to paint than powder coat long term.

I've had a couple of quotes for repair and they have been the same or more than powder coating.

Darth - those alloys would look ridiculous on my Jimny!!
