Just a quick bumper question was created by Padz
Hi,
My Jimny is an 09 in Blue. It is my pride and joy and until yesterday it didn't have a mark on it. Must be the cotton wool I wrap it in every time I leave it.

Anyway yesterday I was weeding behind the front gate and left half of it open. It was raining so I couldn't see through the wing mirror properly and I was a bit stressed about the meeting I had to go to and .......... you know what's coming now.

So I have small scratches on the rear bumper of my other wise pristine car. :(

Could someone please advise me of my options. Is it possible to have it filled in and painted? Is that possible on a Jimny bumper? I did have an Astra fixed like that after someone reverse into me in a car park and then helpfully drove away.

Or failing that how much roughly would a new bumper be? (I wouldn't need a plate and the lights etc are fine. Realistically I'd be getting someone else to put it on as I'm female and nuts and bolts just look at me and laugh!

I know it is probably silly but those marks are going to bug me everytime I see them.

Thanks
Padz

When i had my Jimny it had 3 small dents in it... all where fetched out and touched up... you now can't tell at all! £20 to a mate is all it cost

My Jimny is covered in marks... but its an 04 and i didn't cause the majority of them!

If they are litterally small marks, i'd leave them as genuine marks are better than covering damage up. Get the polish out and attempt to reduce the marking... you'll be suprised how much polish will do.

Hi Padz, I remember when I was like you ..... sounds like you're going to need these ............ expensive though

else ....... embrace the scratches and bumps, and stick some duck tape on and maybe even some fake crack stickers, then in a few years time get some all steel bad boy bumpers
;)

Yeah... if you are going to buy some, i use Merr as a general polish and autoglym as my super shiny polish.

If you have some turtle wax though... it will work fine. If you post some pics it will be clearer whether you need a spray job.

If you are based anywhere near the midlands i have the number of a guy who is a VW fanatic and specialises in spray jobs. You should see his Camper! ;)

Halford you're a legend! I'd just found those in the accessories booklet online and was wondering if they'd cover the damage. I was on the phone to see how much fitting was when I clicked back and there was your photos! Thanks.

I'm pretty sure looking at your photos that the damage would be covered by those protectors. The damage stops just before the bumper curves under and it looks like your protectors extend down at least a couple of centimetres.

I'm cheered up now. Thanks for your reply.

I wish they still did those for the old front bumper!

Been looking for ages, and they never appear on eBay :(

Thanks Adam I didn't see your post before I replied to Halford. Went out to car to measure the damage and see whether the protectors would cover it.

I also went to the garage to find I don't have any Turtle wax. Rats. Some of the scratches are light and look like polish would help. But there's one really deep thin gouge which wouldn't be touched by polish.

I've taken a pic with my phone just need to figure out how to post it now.

I'm not sure if it will cover it all. What do you think Halford - if you don't mind me asking?

Not really worth getting the polish out on... you've made a proper job of it haven't you ;)

The protectors will cover 90% of it... maybe even all of it... and definatley worth a go rather than getting the paint work blown over
