But then you could look downunder. Flamin fabrications make an interesting solution to a twin-motor 8274. It looks pretty good

And have a look here. Triple-motor solution. Apparently called a Flamin Gigglepin
It's pretty fast

A really quick Husky with the worm drive that makes for a brilliant brake and unbreakable internals from the box would be awesome. A bit bulky but awesome - Mr Rafferty - fancy a new product to develop???
Hands up who wants and X-Winch???

But aren't they insanely slow?
Which means not ideal for competition use i guess.
But yes, if someone could do something about that

With time and money spent, it could be developed into an 8274 beater potentially. I've no engineering background, so I am no expert. Someone with an engineering mind may take one look at them as tell us the reason why it has not had money and time spent on it developing it.
My point is, there must be more to life in the Winch Challenge world than the 8274 and Gigglepin.
Like I say, I have nothing against Gigglepin - good on them for doing what they have done, there is a reason why most people aspire to own their winches - but there must be more out there worth doing something with!

Here in DK hydraulic winches are more common than in the UK, and the cost is about the same as a fully rigged GP winch, but much faster and tougher built. So, that's probably what I'd put my money on if it was for competition. But still a lot of money.
Though, secretly dreaming of a GP +60% winch
But a husky, perhaps with a faster running motor, around 8-10000 rpm could do the trick

I'm playing a bit of devil's advocate with the winch business I know, but have made my point.
So, let's hear other people's dream Jimny set up's then!

You certainly have a point. I think at least a 1.6 or 1.9 TDI is the way to go for hydraulic winch.
Still interesting to hear others opinions on winches.

If so, that's taking it to the extreme - portals on a Jimny!
I think I'd have trouble with the arches covering the tyres!
