faild mot, play on cv joint packed it with grease and got it passed wots it likely to be as packing it was just a tempry thing to get it through mot but it drove ok before realy.

I would say the play is in the kingpin bearings. I can't see how they can determine there's play in the CV without removing the halfshaft.

thats what i was thinking ther isnt much wobble though.thers a little one if you hold the steering wheel losely ,but stops if you hold it firmer.

Jack up front wheel, grab top and bottom, if there's play it's the king pins repeat with the other wheel.If there's play when you try by holding the wheel right and left (front and back) that would be track rod end or maybe the steering box, that's the one you're likely to be feeling through the steering wheel
I don't know how the MOT man could say it was play in the CV, I too think he meant King pins.
