new clutch in a Jimny .. whats that?
I've had this Jimny for 4x4'ing for 6yrs now - same clutch!!
You need to remember that your clutch pedal/foot is ONLY for when changing gear, any other time take it well away from the pedal!!
When my girl was learning to drive in my SJ413 and now she's (25) and drives my Jimny offroad - I hit her if i see her foot anywhere near the pedal ... she now knows what NOT TO DO!!!
Remember, if you have youre foot just resting on the pedal, you might be losing traction - not good for 4x4'ing.

I think the whole clutch thing may depend on the type of off roading you do.
Down our club course for example, I did not have any issue with the clutch and the low power of our old 410 (not taken the Jimny there yet) but used momentum alot, so was often going a little faster than was ideal but did not stop or stall and therefore did not touch the clutch. That site is fairly extreme also.
At Slindon in the Jimny, the inclines were OK with a bit of a run up but if I got cross axled half way up and was caused to stop, I would have to call it a failed climb and go all the way back down and try again with a few more beans - not good for CV's and shafts! Landrovers did not stop much and when they did they had the torque to start pulling themselves back up without slipping the clutch.
Rockcrawling in the Lakes requires as low speed as you can but if I stopped I would have to do a hill start up a massive rock and with limited power and high gearing this took it's toll on the clutch - so momentum was again used which meant going too fast and risking damaging things.
From some of the pictures I have seen of Martin's off roading he uses it on some relatively extreme stuff and does so on a fairly regular basis on hard wearing terrain.
I'm looking at using my Jimny at another Off Road site at the end of the month and I'm unlikely to have fitted my Rocklobster before then, so I'll get another perspective again as it's a site I've not driven at yet.

hi all iv put a 2" lift on my jimny over the week. i got the pro comp kit. fiting went very well iv been offroading tonight just to see how it feels and to bed them in abit and all went well.just need a set of 235x75x15 tyres with rims can any one help?

Don't Forget that if you lift the jimny you will also need extended brake lines, as the standard are to short...
They are not very expensive, but in my opinion you should get them fitted by a specialist or stopping could give you a hard time :woohoo:

Hi - something else you should consider is an additional oil cooler for your autobox - they are quite a small box and don't hold much oil so tend to get hot very easily. This is the worst thing for an auto and its quite easy with larger tyres etc to overheat it even on the road. There are 2 rubber pipes that go from the box to an oil cooler in the bottom of the rad. The one nearest the outside of the car on the drivers side is the supply pipe. Disconnect this from the rad oil cooler and extend it to an oil cooler mouted infront of the rad, and then return it to the rad cooler. The reason for connecting it like this is that the box is temperature sensitive and in very cold weather won't go into to top and torque converter lock up until the oil is warm. This way it will help it to warm up and also run at the right temperature. You can get a kit from Think Automotive for around £100. You need a kit for 3/8" bore pipe (10mm).
Keep an eye on the oil and as soon as it gets dark in colour and/or smells burnt change it qickly!
