the Brackets were sourced from Wickes (Gate hinge mounts) and the square "U" brackets were from a trailer.
I had to re-drill the mounting holes a little, but they fitted the bar width perfectly.
Will look tomorrow for them in the garage (Been out of the country for 2 weeks).

Heres a couple of poor pics i pulled off my phone. The bars are the shorter ones that are just the width of the roof, exactly the ones i was after. I've used exhaust clamps with fence repair brackets with the holes re-drilled to suit then the lamps are bolted through them. I wanted them to sit slightly further forward of the bars in case i ever wanted to carry anything on the roof still.

My Dad's just informed me that any light mounted on a vehicle must be wired up and working...? Otherwise it's not road legal. Any thoughts??

Not really ...
if they are part of the vehicles lights and are needed for the MOT then they must be, but any auxillary lights are not pat of the MOT.
As for the legalities of them, I cannot imagine ANY policeman stopping you to ask if the roof fitted to the vehicle are working or not if they are additional to the vehicles standard fitted lights

I taped mine to the roof using electrical tape. If the roof section your taping it to is clean, and you use warm tape .. you can make a waterproof seal that will last a few weeks if you work the tape down well.

These days, I use a bit if black silicone, and when its set will hold wires etc nicely
