I was given 2 eye bolts. I intend to weld one into the inside of a piece of 1" angle iron. I will then grind a couple of holes through the back of the 2nd piece of angle iron. Put the 2 pieces together and seam weld them. Will then plug weld through the 2 ground out holes. I will then find some suitable thickness steel to pack the oblong hoe under the chassis rail. Weld it all together and then wed it to the chassis rail
They say a picture paints a thousand words. I thought the steel was in the back yard. Will add some photos tomorrow.

Then the second piece of angle is placed over the first one and the edges seam welded and the eye bolt is plug welded
This is then packed out with steel strip to suit.
This is then inserted into the oblong hole beneath the chassis section.
This hole is part of the fabrication fot the tie don eyes. This is then welded up

what I did yyou can do it either front or back doesnt matter
as long as the original towing eyes are still shape and not bent
the towings eyes bend easy and any thing
so all you need is 2 bolts, 1 threaded bar, 1 or 2 D shackles, and a putlug ( scafold tube cut down to size
once the pole is to size, drill a whole through it for the shackle/s
if it wont go round, use a club hammer to dent/ crimp the pole
then offer the pole up into place between the towing eyes, the threaded bar runs though the pole and towing eyes then just washers and bolts either end and do it up tight
its as strong as any thing
ive taken run ups at trying to tow people out lifting the jeep in the air and nothing bends

I still have my original eyes and havnt had any problems and my mate used his to rescue discos 90,s and even a big land crusier. I have the ora rear bumperlike most and have plenty eyebolts laying aroundbut havnt changed mine.
Don't use the old style ORA bumper for recovery as it's not designed for that, only as a bumper that can take more knocks and bangs than the standard one.
This is my rear recovery point - a rather large half ring of steel welded very thoroughly to my tow bar!
