All races tapped out (without need of heating) with a strong hole punch (metal pointy chisel) and my trusty BFH.

New BigJimny King Pins and shaft seals arrived today (thanks Martin) - I'm now just waiting delivery on Waterproof Grease!

great link - i love the idea of leaving the top King Pin until last and therefore filling the void with grease through the top King Pin hole ...

Err, just read this thread. I seriously hope you didn't fill the inside of the ball housing with grease/ You are only supposed to put about 100ml of grease in the u.j. and that's it

Definitely do not fill the knuckle with grease. Certainly liberally apply the grease.

If it is full then the grease as nowhere to go when warm. It will either expand its way out of the large swivel seal at the back or, worse still, break the CV through hydraulic pressure.

So i can liberally apply the waterproof grease to the CV Knuckle and around (inside/under) the King Pins - no more anywhere??

Maverick is right Martin. It does say "Take out top kingpin to fill knuckle with grease...and empty the tube(s) of grease into the ''hole'' vacated by the top kingpin. Repeat this procdure with the second tube.
NOTE; Fill the steering knuckle with at least two or three 100 gram tubes of grease. Do not overfill as it could
effect the steering.

I prefer three tubes of grease. It fills the knuckle pretty good but not to much. To much grease could make it
hard to stear the car. To little makes the lower bearing life short.
NOTE; Use your finger to force-feed the grease. Clean the mounting surface of top kingpin before applying
silicone sealant"

Any advice as to which of these statements is correct/
British Forum says to just fill bearings eith grease.
Swedish Forum says to put 3 Tubes of grease into steering knuckle before inserting top kingpin.

the guides, including mine, are written by happy amateurs. However, I tend to follow the workshop manual from Suzuki which states that 150grams should be used, which is quite a small amount. Therefore I tend to use slightly more than this, ensuring that everything has a nice covering but not too much. Filling the swivel is a Landrover technique.
