You do realise that a Jimny will do about the same to the gallon as your 110? (It will save a little as diesel is 40p a gallon more than petrol)
They cost more to insure, and there are no cheap parts like for a Landrover: I paid FORTY POUNDS for a propshaft spider that would have cost £4 for the Landrover :pinch: .
The ride is a lot more lively than a 110 and the 2wd will spin it round in the wet whereas the 110 will just go.
That said the jimny is easier to park than the 110, and a great deal warmer in the winter., and as long as you don't try and drive like John off Emmerdale makes a good little winter runabout. (Apart from the rust: the bodywork isn't very well designed as regards rust traps)
Facade, Is this a test?????

I think I gave the impression that I wanted to get rid of the landy for economy's sake:unsure:
I just think that I want a change from my big red Landy, which I would never take off road as If I broke it, it would cost a fortune to repair.
Yes some parts on the Landy are cheap, but the big bits and labour costs are not.
For me to repair my own 110 woould at some point require some big lifting kit, whereas I see the Jimny as a better motor to work on???
Please put me right if I have got this totally wrong!!!

Thanks for that
I was thinking of having something like a 2" lift and some BFG AT's to start with followed by some ORA bumpers with a winch.
I've never really modded the Landy apart from some rock sliders, fake rear cage and a swing away spare wheel mount. The reason for not modding is that I spent a bit of money on the landy and I didn't want to spoil it.
A 3 grand Jimny would be a bit of a different proposal though

Its a shame that no suzuki 4x4 is good on fuel, as they are reliable and great fun. I find it cheaper to tow my heavily modified jimny on a 600kg trailer totaling 2000kg behind a 3.2 shogun. Lucky if mine is to get 15mpg.

I don't regret it, but if I was offroading regularly I certainly would. A jimny is a fairly capable light/occaisonal off roader, but in standard form the defender is a better off road workhorse.
You can modify a jimny if you have a bottomless wallet, toyota axles, rock lobster, chop the body away for extreme tyres, raise the suspension etc, the only mod a defender needs is tyres.
If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there
