Had a conversation with a mate about landy's and as much as they are the 4x4 vehicle of choice, they are quite costly to buy, but of course that is a good thing for you now it comes to selling
Yes they will tow and are perhaps a better "do everything" vehicle. BUT...
...the Jimny is more modern and has all the benefits of effectively being a mini landrover. Perfect wheelbase, nice and light, a little engine like a sewing maching that looked after and with correct gearing will go anywhere as people have proved here and Rob@ORA.
PLUS... there is now loads of stuff you can do to the Jimny and if most on here are honest (which I know they are) thats almost more fun to most. Trying to find the next cool mod! lol
Biased yes, but only because I like being the underdog and being different.
Bang for buck, the Jimny is a BEAST!!
Buy one, the worst is you will sell it and buy something else if you dont like it.

Thanks for the comments
I actually think I'm coming up with a master plan :woohoo:
I think I might keep the Landy and get a Jimny to have a play with. Probably looking at something around £2500.
The reasoning for keeping the Landy is that if I sold it I would never get another one like it and I want to be sure I am doing the right thing.
I suppose I'd better get rid of my '69 lightweight that is waiting to be built up or the wife will go mad:evil:

Not been around over the weekend - no broadband at the moment (long story ) typeing this at work
You won't regret a jimny - good fun to drive - just don't throw them round roundabouts, good offroad and parts aren't too bad if you shop around - plenty of crashed ones at the breakers for cheap parts ie complete front prop for £25 if you keep the nice landie and get a jimny for fun you could go for an already lifted one for a lot less than the cost of a standard one + lift
go on do it you won't regret it

Its a shame that no suzuki 4x4 is good on fuel, as they are reliable and great fun. I find it cheaper to tow my heavily modified jimny on a 600kg trailer totaling 2000kg behind a 3.2 shogun. Lucky if mine is to get 15mpg.
Thats OK if you happen to have a 2.3 Shogun to hand!!
Horses for courses really, I wanted a competitive 4X4 for trials, I don't have a big tow car so I wanted to be able to drive it to and from sites and something the wife could drive to work in the snow.
Options were a 90 or a Jimny, Jimny ticked all the boxes.
John.
On the 8th Day God made the LandRover -
On the 9th day he swapped it for a Jimny.

Now the issues start as I want a convertible and being a tight sod from Yorkshire I want it with a few bits and the fancy hard top. The hunt is on!!!!!!!!!
I suppose the only issue is that I will have to sacrifice my Wheelhorse and my 13hp chipper with hydraulic feed (Don't use it!!! Just have it to say I've got one!!!!!!)
