Its held on by a black jubilee clip. It can easily be stolen if you have a screwdriver!:(

This means that it can be rotated to face backwards if required. I have seen this on a few different vehicles. Not really sure what the reasons for this are. I'm guessing its to stop water entering the snorkel when you drive into water at speed.

I'm going to rivet mine on as I dont need to move the head.

They are put on with a jubilee clip so it can be rotated round so no water can get into the air filter when driving in heavy rain.

Ah i dont know it either..

so you drill the holes from the mal and bolt it to the wing? how is it attached on the Apillar? and then you use a hose to attatch it to the airbox? theres no extra filter in the snorkel head? and what about the sound

From the mal?

The snorkel bolts to the wing and attaches to the A pillar via a bracket which bolts to the snorkel and can be riveted or self tappered to the pillar.

The snorkel then fits directly to the air box. There is no extra filter in the head. I run a K&N filter purely so I can wash it out when I've been off roading so there is a bit of an induction noise with the snorkel fitted. Takes me back to my boy racer days!

Do you think it is really required to turn it round in heavy rain? I run a K&N panal filter so I can clean it if a bit of water etc gets in there!

I want to secure the head really as I dont want it to go walkies!:(

yes i do think it is. some of the more expensive snorkel tops have a water run off it the head, but these safari type copies like the one i have fitted dosn't, so it turns round backwards and stops the water entering the air filter and engine??

Fair enough. I'll have to think about it then!:(

The head is shaped the same as the safari one fitted to my mates disco and has 4 slits in it that look like they would allow water to come out. I may be totally wrong. I guess I'll find out when we get some heavy rain! See the attached pic.

Made out of GRP, very brittle. I liked them because they don't run down the wing but after fitting it, I've 'gone off' it!
If I thought that fitting one of these would cover the hole left in the wing, I would be ordering one now.

Mmmm!
Don't know if you can see what I mean from this picture?

Its hard to see where your snorkel enters the wing in that picture. Have you not got a side on picture?

It looks like your snorkel might enter the wing a bit lower down than where my snorkel would run. You could always fiberglass over the hole?

I was looking at getting the same snorkel you have but I had seen that someone on here (cant remember their name!) had put their jimny on its side and it cracked the snorkel. It kind of put me off but then I guess any snorkel can get damaged if you hit it hard enough or drag it along the side of a gulley.:(

Chris

I get a picture later and let you see.
I'm not bothered too much if the other snork doesn't cover the hole. I'd probably just 'pop rivet' an alloy plate behind the hole after 'tidying' it up.

Reaper, if you are interested in the snork, watch this space, it's not even connected up yet as Jim is not on the road for the moment, but if I do get one of these other ones, you can have first dibs. ;)

If I understand you correct, you no longer like this snorkel? is it because of the material?

Hi,

Yes, the material is on the brittle side. It looks fine when it's fitted but I don't think there is any 'give' whatsoever if you caught it on a wall, gate or tree trunk etc.

I had one of those TJM snorkels on my Mitsi Delica, I fitted that myself and it just felt so much 'softer' being made out of a 'textured', 'soft' plastic.
Mind you, it was nearly 3x the price by the time I received it from Oz!

We shall see what happens, got loads of other stuff going on at the moment, a new hobby, my old hobby and not knowing if I will have a job after July!

Thanks for the picture as well. :)

Am I right then that the price of one of these snorks, is:-
99.90 eu
10.00 eu
+18% tax (Es) 19.78 eu
129.68 eu total.
Which is 107.76 GBP
Any import tax/fees?

If that is right, I'm having one.
It's nearly half the price I paid for the shorty snork, once you've added VAT & p&p costs on!

Nice find! You ought to be on commission!

Keith :)
