Jago tubs can be had for about £50 in reasonable shape - occasionally incorrectly registered kits turn up which then get broken and the Classic ford boys occasionally strip a perfectly decent car to retrieve the escort components, the body tub then becomes a space filling embarassment for them.

Tub has huge arches and 2 flat floors designed to fit on a stepped ladde chassis, in the past SJ and Diahatsu versions have been built , several are now runnning land rover gear, one guy fitted a merc straight 6 so you can see there is lots of scope.
There is a small but active Jago Owners Club,

the section on the site relating to 4 x 4 builds is in a members only area as it was felt that hard earned expertise was being ripped off bycasual visitors who put nothing back into the site ;( It is about £15 to join for a year and there is a fairly generous redistribution of parts between members.

You may have seen the article in Novembers Total Off road about Gary Reid jeep built on Land rover stuff,
Tigger

he previously did an SJ based version and has the advantage that his day job is building trucks,

Andy Belfield a relation of Geof Jago is now marketing a 4 x 4 version and he is full of ideas

Lots of others on the go too, car shown in my avatar is the standard looking jeep shape - moulds were originally taken from a 1940's Willys jeep

I will add to that, that I have spoken to Andy Belfield at length when I restored my Jago and he was really helpfull.

Luckily my little miss-hap wasnt bad enough for a re-body but having glassed my bumper back togeather it reminded me how therapeutic fibre glassing is ;)

Sure somebody mentioned it on here a while ago but dont think it ever got off the ground :(
