If they are too big they will not go on, you will have to reduce the size, I use this software. It's easy to use Just simply click the link below and when prompted save it to your desktop. (Don't use the "Run" option).
www.rw-designer.com/picture-resize
I have saved it to my desktop so there is an icon on my screen. The name of the icon is called "PhotoResize 400". I just grap a big photo with my mouse and drop it on the icon. The program will then run and resize the photo down to 400 pixels and save it in the same folder as the original except the new file is renamed as it was originally with 400 afterwards!

As Doncarlyon says, you have to use the img tags.
So, if your picture is on Photobucket, if you click on it you will get some options such as "embed" , "html" etc, one of the options will be an IMG tag such as:
You then place this in your message on this board and magically a picture appears...

Within this box is where you're going to chose your size. All the images I upload are 640x480, but many people upload at 600x800 (which is also many forums maximum size allowed).
In this different window you're able to chose the different opnions available to upload your images at a maximum size. Just click the save button after you've chosen your size and all your pictures will be uploaded at that set size.
A 640x480 will be this size:
A 800x600 will be this size:
Hope this helps,

Resizing:
Using the resizing feature before uploading your images to Photobucket.com will make sure all your images are the same size. This ensure your images will be withing forum limits when you go to post them, and you won't have to worry about resizing them the long, individual way!
New Style
When using the new style of Photobucket software, you'll notice there's a drop down box. In this dropdown box is the options for sizes your images will be uploaded (as a maximum). When you click the drop down arrow (circled in blue) it will bring up the drop down box.Within this box is where you're going to chose your size. I can click on it and be transferred to Photobucket to look at it.
However by putting a mouse over it I get offered the IMG option as I described. By clicking on this option it is copied and you can then paste it into the forum message, thats magic!
