Not sure, but Martin had reduction gears in a standard box and it didn't end well.
no idea if that was anything to do with the reduction gears, or if they were the same ones as Jimnybits sells or not though...

These are very similar to gearset I find here in Italy, like trial Jimny gearset, or Zanfi.it. But I'd like to shorten only 4L because I want to use 205/70-15 tyres and onroad behaviour is now ok for me, I plan to install a new header and new exaust, to gain a little of power, so onroad use is ok.
But gears in offroad is too much longer, also because before the Jimny I had a Samurai with 215/80-15 and 4.16 gears and I'm used with shorter ratios

I think that the only alternative way to Apio-very expensive-Star 58 is to install a Samurai T-Case with this gearset or similar one: www.zanfi.it/modules.php?name=catalog&fi..._204&products_id=277 , with this system I have unchanged 2H-4H ratios, but 83ù% shorter 4L, APIO in Italy could cost near to double

Thanks for the info people!
Good to know about the sliping transfer box chain issue (another £300ish). Martin also complained that the these gears are good on high, but not low enough offroad.
Anyway, to keep my 4wd buttons, Trial Jim.ny seems to be the only option. I couldn't find out if any of those APIO sets will fit my 2009 Jimny. I call it VVT, but i don't know exactly since when the VVT is being used. They are using model codes, such as JB23 (think it is the narrower jap market model). Mine is problably JB43, but with facelift and 4wd buttons. Below are the links for APIO reduction gears. Hope someone will be manufacturing something similar (but cheaper) soon in the EU. Cheers!

This thing (don't know what it is) is supposed to be instaled with the first two: translate.googleusercontent.com/translat...IYhf4reNoUtgtzJ8VZGw
And the infamous Star58: translate.googleusercontent.com/translat...97tyJmAq1We7Xsn0ZbJg
