31's srcub on coil tower's! was created by Monkey
Hey guys,

I have noticed that my front driver's side tyre has been scrubbing on the coil/shock tower sense i put the 31's on. I was just wondering if any of you guy's running 31s and bigger have had this issue? and what has you done to fix it?....apart from bump stop spacing...

Tyre's are 31x10.5 on 15x8 -23 off set rims....

Cheers,

Andrew

NO WAY! Apart from the major legalities with them, there is other reason's why i don't want them.

-Bigger scrub radius
-Increase in bearing wear
-More guard cutting and bar chopping
-Stick out like dog's balls :(

How have you over come this issue? Or do you not have this issue?

I had a similar issue at the rear when I put my 31's on, though I found my rear axle wasn't properly centered. Problem fixed after tweaking the panhard rod. If that's not the issue, surely only wheel's spaced further out or spacers will solve it?

you can get 5mm wheel spacers which might just be enough to make them clear?

Yes they do stick out past the arches but we have wheel arch extensions on to cover them
they still go up inside the arches on flex due to the 4.5" spring lift but occasionally the outer edge of the special tracks (very aggressive muds) catch on the inner edge of the wheel arch extension but as we are usually in 4low on a rocklobster over big twisties the speed is low enough not to cause any damage
cant say if bearing wear is any different than on just 31" with out them have only fitted one front so far in the last 18 months but then ours is an off road toy only :)
they are not illegal in the UK........yet

if you can't legally fit spacers then your other alternative are greater offset wheels

I had 32mm spacers on my old Jimny for 18 months and had no problems, just had plastic arch extensions.

I might look at getting some old 15x7's flipped to a off-set that would work!

What off set are you guys running on your rims?
