My Jimny is standard, with the exception of ATs. What would the collective advise as first upgrade ?

I'm thinking of (in no particular order):
New alloys with road wheels for general use (to be swapped with steel rims/ATs for pay and play/green lanes)
Snorkel (getting stuck in rather deep water at Slindon was a bit of a worry)
Welded recovery points.

I don't wish to stick my nose up at your AT tyres but I would consider those as my road tyres and make my first upgrade a suspension lift with a view of a further upgrading the tyres to larger MT's.

Then will come the winch bumper and winch and .........

As for a snorkel, you don't have to drive through water and you'll soon get sick of the maintenance it causes! Can't think of any water at Slindonia that needs a snorkel. The money saved on not buying a snorkel could buy most of a set of 3" lifting springs and shocks - maybe from Martin soon by the sounds of it!

If you are addicted to water though, as it does draw some people to it as much as it makes me avoid it, a snorkel is cheaper than a bent con rod after the engine has hydrauliced!

Some river/Ford crossings on greenlanes can need one in winter but again I wouldn't do the crossing.

1. Improve the recovery points
2. Good recovery gear, straps/strops and d shackles
3. Lift
4. Better tyres(as above keep the AT's for the road)

Hi mate and welcome,
as the others have advised, get yourself a lift kit and some A/T tyres and it will go almost any where then the rest will come in time.

good look

There are a few people on here with 4.5" lifts who I think are happy with them and use them on the road. The only thing is, the higher you go, the wider you need to go to maintain stability.

Then you need to make your arches wider to cover your tyres and do some body cutting to stop them catching.

I wonder what a lift that high is like on a side slope?

I considered it but will be sticking with 3".

Isn't generally a rule that for every inch you go up you should go the same in width?
Therefore on a 4.5 inch you'd need 10inch wide rims.........technically? But then you would also be running taller tyres.....................................

All that considered i'd want a cage!! Surely it would have a propensity to fall over?

Not a mod that helps performance, but I would strongly recommend a steering damper for improved comfort and control
