Hey All,

Just a quick couple of questions,

1st how many revs are most of you doing when sitting at 100km/h? In mine im still on just over 3000 revs and doing maybe 90km/h - 2000 model jimny with 215 tyres. Just wondering if this is kinda normal. There was a reciept with the vechical when i bought it for new diif!? i have yet to check it is the correct ratio but it seems that i am doing around 3500-3600 revs at 100km/h just seems a little high especially with 215 tyres. and yes my speedo is out a little i know with bigger tyres but am taking that into consideration.

2nd Have this damn oil leak from the back of the gearbox! G series one. I have replaced the Jack shaft output seal twice, once with a cheap one, still leaked oil and 2nd time with a geniune Suzuki one. Still got a leak. The shaft is fine smooth and tight fit with the seal. I checked last nigth the breather and it seems to be not blocked? I cant get the output shaft to move eg no play in the gearbox bearings.

Is there any where else that may be causing an oil leak on these gearboxes that people are aware of??? Just one of those anoying things grrr. It looks to be coming from the output seal then splashed all over the tunnel from the shaft turning. Im at the stage where i am going to have to pull the box out to look into it to see what is going on :(

Cheers
Alan

When I cruised at 110km/h on stock tyres I was sitting around 4500-4600rpm. With 215/70/15 it now sits around 4200rpm. Mine is the M13A, so gearbox could be slightly different?

You should state the engine and modifications, to be correct. Mine does 90 km/h at exactly 3000 rpm with the VVT 1.3 engine, with the modifications listed in my signature.

For the seal, I remember quite a lengthy discussion on the german Jimny forum where a member had the same problem. Through what I could understand with Google Translate, he seemed to mention it's related to the install; after putting the seal in, it had to be turned somehow for a lip to catch and stop the leaks. I've also seen a bit of oil splashed in that area and will take care of it soon.

Mine is a 2007 VVT and suffers the problems of putting a rocklobster transfer box in it. Even though I have changed the diffs from 4.3 to 3.9, and running 30" tyres its still very low geared. 100kph is achieved at 4500 rpm. Not really good for the car but the upside is its great off road!
An ideal mod would be an earlier gearbox, but even that's not straight forward as they are a completely different box.
Can't remeber what the auto does at 100 kph but its a lot less.

Manual VVT, 2 1/2" lift, ORA castor corrected arms, 2" ORA body lift, 4:1 transfer box, Uprated front shafts & CVs ERM , ARBs back & front 3.9 diffs, 6 point cage, ORA winch bumper - Superwinch EP9, ORA rear bumper, ORA axle truses, Diff guards ERM , TBR tank guard, Snorkel, Kumho KL71.30.9.50 15
