Diff gearing was created by Monkey
Hey Guys,

Dose any one know if there is diff gears available from any where for the jimny?

See gearing at the t-case is very $$$ here in AUS even more so for me, been a VVT jimny and if i was to fit a sierra (samurai) case it would be around 30% over geared ( i think???) .

I could fit a older model jimny t-case but would still be WAY over geared :(

Any cheaper ways of gearing that you know of please let me know ;)

Cheers,

Andy

I think we have been here before on this subject, if yours is a manual VVT it will have a transfer box ratio of 1:1 in high and 2.002:1 in low. The auto VVT uses a different transfer box that is 1.32:1 in high and 2.643:1 in low, so could be an easy swap and still giving you a good reduction.
The manual car has 4.3:1 diffs and I think they are the same for the auto.

If you go the rocklobster route, as I have done, you end up with low gearing both in high and low. Ok unless you want to make long journeys and then it becomes tiresome as at 4000 rpm it's only doing about 100kms per hour even with 30 inch tyres and I have changed my diffs to 3.9:1

Manual VVT, 2 1/2" lift, ORA castor corrected arms, 2" ORA body lift, 4:1 transfer box, Uprated front shafts & CVs ERM , ARBs back & front 3.9 diffs, 6 point cage, ORA winch bumper - Superwinch EP9, ORA rear bumper, ORA axle truses, Diff guards ERM , TBR tank guard, Snorkel, Kumho KL71.30.9.50 15

That's sounds more like it. :cheer: Do you happen to know as a percentage what sort of reduction it offers?

And thanks for all the info so far guys B)

Using the auto transfer box will give you a reduction in high of 20% and 32% in low.
Your 235 tyres compared to the original 205 will give you an increase in gearing of 9.88% so you will still be lower with the auto transfer box, but probably not too low.

There are diff gears for the jimny. Are in 5.1:1 ratio. Feets all jimny models.

My cousin is wearing them combined with a rocklobster 4.1.

He runs 33'' and the car is great. the cost of the r&p for each diff is 350euros.

We bought them from here www.4xfourart.com/ . Very nice quality. From him we have also bought

a lot of suspension special parts for our jimnys such as radius arms etc.
