My jimny is a daily driver and am currently running 215's was wondering if i could get away with 235's in the future or does it just become a very expensive to do so, how badly is the performance effected?

I am running 235s, Kingpin Amazon MTs to be precise. My Jimny is a 2003 with the older style engine (cam belt) and I am very happy with its performance, It takes a very long, steep incline to knock the wind out of it. Not to say I wouldnt fit a rocklobster in the future for off road use to improve gearing but for green lanes and road use I am more than happy B)

I have 235's on and 5th gear only gets used if you really push the car through the gears then any hill and your down to 3rd and maybe back to 4th
I dont do more than 40 mile trips and its ok'ish it will do 50-60mph on the flat
you will need a 2" spring lift and a 2" body lift then trim the arches to get them to clear though

It will kill your fuel economy! I've got 235/75/15 and it is only for off roading with minimal on road use.

235's will be fine on a DD, mine is a daily , and is nice to drive with the VVT motor, providing you work the gear box when needed, I.E hills.

Thanks alot guys, well soon my mate will fit the lpg so the economy isnt realy an issue at 74p a litre, and by the sounds of it you dont think the performance is that badly effected so it looks like the way to go when i come to buy my next set of tyres.

LPG ? Where are you fitting a tank not much room in a Jimny ;)

I am used to driving SJs with 235s on and the 1 Litre transfer boxes to reduce the gearing and my Jimny is 100 times better B)

I dont have kids just me and my girlfriend and rarely use the back seats so was either going to put it straight behind the front 2, or length ways so i have a 3rd seat if need it. then was going to build a storage box round it for ropes etc.
