Not too sure of exact figures but I would imagine it will be in the 40-45mpg bracket. Depending on which Vauxhall/Izuzu engine you are using as the engine management system and ancillaries have changed significantly from early astras to what are now have in the new astra's. Obviously the older the engine you get the easier it will be to wire up etc.

Also the MPG might be better when the engine is in the Jimny as it will weigh a bit less than an Astra!:)

Just read the original post properly!!! A 1.7td Jimny I would imagine would be more like 48-50mpg maybe more if you drive sensibly! Altho if it was me having the extra power would mean that I would just boot it everywhere!

money or skills no object i'd love a TDCI jimny, something like a transit connect or Fiesta lump, remap it for silly torque, relocate the ecu out of harms way. Realistic 50+mpg and power to boot.

enough power to tow a jimny on a trailer at 50-60mph and still get 28mpg :)

I'd love a factory diesel but they are serious money in comparison to petrol ones, shame they didn't see it worth officially importing them to the UK.
